Love it or Leave it? MAC Iris Apfel Collection
It seems to me that the newest trend for winter is neon! A fellow beauty lover and twitter friend, Sukanya at Glitter&Vodka.com, recently posted about Bobbi Brown’s Neon and Nude collection. Staying with the trend, MAC recently released their Iris Apfel for MAC collection. I came across it the other day while randomly surfing the web. I realized that I hadn’t been on MAC’s website in a while, and decided to check it out. Boy, am I glad I did! For any of my fellow MAC lovers, you guys all know, or have heard of the color, “Candy Yum Yum.” This was and probably still is one of MAC’s best sellers. It’s no longer available, as it was a limited edition color that came out during the summer, but it is a gorgeous blue based bright pink. I unfortunately didn’t get my hands on one, and completely regret it. The Iris Apfel line contains a bunch of bright fun shades for both the eyes and lips. My eyes went directly for the l/s. The colors are amazingly bright and vibrant, and the best part of all, matte. I only picked up Party Parrot, Pink Pigeon, and Too Chic (a highlighter). I picked up Party Parrot online, as everything else was sold out, and put Pink Pigeon and Too Chic on hold at a free standing MAC counter the day it hit stores. (SO glad I did because they sold out within a few hours!)
Enough with the talking, here are my swatches!
The colors are even more vibrant in person!
Too Chic
Love that it is finely milled, and there aren’t huge chunks of glitter, or sparkle
L-R : Party Parrot, Pink Pigeon
Party Parrot reminds me of a watermelon pink, it’s definitely more pink than red, but has a red undertone. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time, as I’ve been looking for a color like this everywhere. A lot of people compare it to MAC’s Impassioned, but with a more matte finish.
Pink Pigeon on the other hand is a bright blue-based pink. It’s described as being a “clean” pink, and I couldn’t agree more. While it isn’t exactly a dupe for Candy Yum Yum, I feel that this is a mix and in the middle of Candy Yum Yum and Girl About Town.
I ordered liners, Embrace Me, and Lasting Sensation the other day, and I’m waiting for them to come in to pair with these l/s’s.
I came home yesterday, and since my face was already done, couldn’t resist trying on Pink Pigeon. Here’s a pic!
MY VERDICT: LOVING it! I’m loving this trend for the winter. I personally love the look of pale skin and bright lips. I feel that it brings color to a what else seems like a “drab” season. If you can get your hands on any of these shades, DEFINITELY pick them up!
